Burns Discussion
Burns of the hand result in a great variety of both short and long term
problems, most commonly including stiffness, permanent visible deformity,
and difficulty with use. Slow recovery, multiple surgical procedures and
prolonged therapy are common. Prognosis is very difficult to predict, and
years of healing may be involved before the final plateau of recovery is
achieved. Permanent impairment is common with deep burns of the hand.
