Intraarticular Proximal phalanx base fractures

Often a high energy injury, these fractures are frequently comminuted, impacted and may displace in the same fashion as proximal phalanx shaft fractures. Because the metaphyseal bone is soft, it is more difficult to achieve adequate percutaneous fixation, and open reduction is required more often than for proximal phalanx shaft fractures.
