Smoking Tobacco Discussion

Current Tobacco Use: Use of tobacco is recognized as a harmful influence in the management of upper extremity problems. It appears to lower the pain threshold. Smoking increases the chance of developing wound healing problems, sympathetic dystrophy, painful nerve irritation, myofascial pain syndrome and improper fracture healing. It is associated with delayed or incomplete recovery and a higher complication rate following treatment of upper extremity problems.
