Step cut lengthening therapy (forearm flexor tendons)

3 weeks:

The postoperative dressing is removed.

Active and Passive Range of Motion exercises are initiated 15 min/hr.

A full extension Resting Pan splint is fitted to be worn between exercises sessions and at night.

4 weeks:

Functional Electrical Stimulation or Standard Electrical Stimulation may be initiated as needed to increase tendon excursion.

6 weeks:

Gentle progressive strengthening may be initiated using foam, putty, and a hand helper.

8 weeks:

The Resting Pan splint may be gradually reduced during the day.

10 - 12 weeks:

The Resting Pan splint is discontinued.
