Wound care: Sterility Therapy
Wounds heal with the fewest problems if they are kept clean. The bandage placed
by the physician in the operating room was sterile when it was put on, and will
stay clean as long as it remains dry. Bandages put on wounds after surgery
should be clean, but do not need to be sterile. Bandages which have gotten wet
should be changed, and not simply allowed to dry.
