Wound Care: Secondary Healing Therapy
Some wounds are left open to heal on their own (healing by secondary
intent), or are allowed to go through a period of dressing changes in
preparation for skin grafting. In the event that the patient must perform
their own wound care, several things should be mentioned. First of all,
most wounds do not appear to show obvious signs of healing for the first
seven to ten days after they are made.
