Trigger Finger postoperative therapy

0 - 1 week:

Postoperative dressing. Elevation and active range of motion exercises are encouraged.

1 week:

The postoperative dressing is removed.

Desensitization is initiated as soon as the wound is accessible. Scar massage is emphasized and is initiated as soon as sutures were removed.

Active and Passive Range of Motion exercises are initiated 15 min/hr. If there is a measurable PIP flexion contracture, nighttime static PIP splinting is begun.

3 weeks:

If there is a measurable PIP flexion contracture, nighttime static PIP extension splinting is instituted for six additional weeks. Otherwise, the patient released to a home massage and exercise program.
