Fig. 24. Flexor tendon sutures. Standard flexor tendon stricture technique includes central intratendinous "core" sutures and peripheral epitendinous "finishing" sutures. There are many variations other than this Kessler technique, but all attempt to "lock" the sutures on the tendon to prevent gap formation or rupture during recovery. Multiple core sutures appear to improve the chances of a good result.
